Air pollution is one of the most important health and environmental concerns. This is particularly the case in urban areas, where the majority of people live in developed countries and, increasingly so, in the developing regions of the world. It is estimated that the population of the world will double over the next 40 years. Overall, nearly half the world’s population lives in towns and cities. Whereas about 70 to 80 per cent of people in developed countries live in urban areas, in the developing countries this proportion is around 20-30 per cent. We are investigating air quality in cities and how these are changing. Click on the following links to find out more.
