The workshop focussed on molecular and cellular interaction networks as computational systems. Invited speakers from around the world addressed topics such as:
The workshop is part of a series of networks funded by the EPSRC to establish communities and stimulate research in long term, speculative, emerging areas of computing that have the potential for high rewards. This workshop is organised jointly by the Emergent Behaviour Computation and Emerging CytoComputational Systems forums.
The programme aims to encourage the transfer of ideas and insights in these new, high-risk and high-reward research topics, both within the computing and IT communities and with other disciplines to bring together multidisciplinary communities and stimulate research to advance computing and IT beyond the foreseeable capabilities of existing technologies.
The Computation in Cells Workshop is being organised with the support of the Wellcome Trust, the British Computer Society and British Telecom
