"The crux of the biscuit is the apostrophe" (Frank Zappa)
Ever since I discovered that kinetics and thermodynamics are neither frightening nor boring, I have been fascinated by the fact that simple mechanisms can give rise to very complex dynamic behaviour. For many years, I have studied the workings of biochemical systems by mixing solutions and measuring the effect with spectrophotometers of varying degrees of sophistication, in labs with varying percentages of Bio and Chemistry in their names. I finally decided that it would be altogether a lot less messy if I let others do the nasty wet work. So now I concentrate solely on e-experiments. On my projects page you can find out more about the projects that I am or have been actively involved with.
In October 2009 I got the opportunity to do some teaching in the School of Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire. Since then I have taken on a larger and larger load, and haven't looked back. I am now happily teaching a lot of subjects that I have always wanted to know more about - to a very mixed audience, which makes the whole thing quite a challenge. Altogether a nice change, after some 30 years of research.
